Race for Water Odyssey - Stopover in Shanghai
Published on by Elsa Mabillard in Education
During their stopover in Shanghai, the R4WO teams witnessed an astonishing phenomenon: citizens “benefit” from the failures of the waste management system to retrieve raw material that can be recycled (plastic bottles, paper, cardboards, etc.) from public trash bins. These people then sell these debris to factories. Thus, a circular economy model, however still disorganized, is unofficially put in place.
