There are many ways to combat this problem, as we see from this process.  What we lack is a collective deep understanding of how to move this and so many other great ideas and inventions into the market given our current business and R&D models and constraints. What's required is a complete value chain mindset and the use of "a systematic approach to creating markets to deliver solutions packages" to quote the World Bank [Report - Recommendations in support of "Forward Look... A Vision for the World Bank Group"].  The complex challenges we face are far too interlinked and can't wait for individual inventors to self-organize or for their inventions to find the light of day.  Most equipped to help convene players and set this plastics value chain transformation in motion (and other critical chains) may well be the UN and the World Bank. That is, if they can first, truly transform their own thinking and models.
