Dear Nicolas Kokel, off course plastic debris is not the only threat for marine animals but when you open a stomach from a seabird full of plastic particles you can't say it is not the reason of his death. Many scientific articles have already demonstrated the harmful effect of plastic debris on marine animals and this article of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation is drawing up a long list of them (655!).
